Three seats on the FHUSD School Board will be up for election this November, but two long-time incumbents announced they would not be running again.
The three current seats expire Dec. 31, kicking off the beginning of three new four-year terms.
While Karl Gaardsmoe plans to run, both Melanie Anderelli and Helen Howard have stated that they will not be seeking re-election in November. Howard has been a board member for the past 12 years with Anderelli serving for 10.
Both Anderelli and Howard expressed a desire to see qualified Fountain Hills residents with an interest in helping guide the local district run for election.
“It’s a fulfilling, rewarding job, and I’d really like to see others have the opportunity to participate,” Howard added.
