Unfit

Donald Trump has once again proven that he is unfit to be the president of this great country. His remarks saying that neo-Nazis and Confederate sympathizers had “very fine” people on their side in Virginia and that those protesting against their hate are equally responsible for the violence and death in Charlottesville is reprehensible. The strong reaction throughout not only this country, but the world, shows how unhinged Trump is.

My father fought in WWII, my great-great grandfather fought to preserve the Union in the Civil War. Trump has insulted every one of those veterans who put their lives on the line to fight Nazis or the treasonous South for trying to break the Union.

Is he saying that those who fought in Europe against the Nazis “share equal blame” for the violence of the Nazis? Shame on Trump! We all heard what the hateful neo-Nazis and Confederate supporters were chanting and saw their disgusting signs in Virginia. No ridiculous explanation from Trump is acceptable.

As far as Trump’s comments about removing Confederate monuments – the Confederates lost! Removing these symbols of the treasonous leaders who fought to own other human beings is not “destroying history.” Put the monuments in a museum or cemetery with a history of the horrors of slavery. Trying to destroy the Union should not be honored. If people want to brag that it’s their heritage, it’s a pitiful heritage. Your racist ideology was defeated over 150 years ago.

The Nazis and the Confederates lost because brave soldiers were willing to fight against the evil they represented. And now brave protesters are standing up to neo-Nazis and other white supremacists; they should be thanked, not blamed. No President has the right to dishonor our veterans the way Trump has.
