Unity of spirit

On April 17, 1952, President Harry Truman signed a bill proclaiming the National Day of Prayer into law. President Ronald Reagan amended the law in 1988 designating the first Thursday in May of each year to be the National Day of Prayer.

If you believe in the power of prayer, then you need to be at the one-hour National Day of Prayer annual observance at the Fountain Park amphitheater tomorrow, Thursday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m. Better yet, come at 5:30 p.m. and enjoy free hot dogs, chips, cookies, iced tea and water.

This year the theme is taken from Ephesians 4:3 “...Making every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.” Unity means coming together in one purpose, so let us join together tomorrow believing that God hears us and wants His people to unite in prayer and praise. The power of prayer is awesome, and we have the promise of God Himself who said, “Anything you ask in my Son’s name, that will I do.”
