About 200 turned out at the amphitheater in Fountain Park Sept. 30, to show support for local schools at the first Unity Rally in Fountain Hills.
The long-term idea is to have periodic rallies to gather the community for a show of small-town neighborliness, according to Mayor Ginny Dickey who had the inspiration for the rallies earlier this year.
With the upcoming school bond election, education was the focus of this first rally. Speakers focused on the importance of education to a community with a theme of “strong schools make strong communities.”

Those participating at the rally included the town, educators, business/Chamber of Commerce, former students with new generational ties to the local schools and real estate professionals.
There is no current schedule for future rally events.
