Unsafe

Roundabouts are unsafe for pedestrian, bicycle traffic and the disabled. There are many studies that prove that issue. Do we need to spend more money on studies when you can find them in the internet?

There will soon be approximately 1000 people living in the new apartments a block from Fountain Park. Rather than speed up traffic (why?), someone will surely be killed and lawsuits will point to the fact roundabouts are unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists.

In Scottsdale, for example, speeds have been reduced to 15 miles per hour in residential areas because of the danger to pedestrians. This would be considered a highly residential intersection. That shoots down the idea of speeding up traffic.

Let’s make Fountain Hills a pedestrian friendly town and not a motor vehicle dodge ball game. Cars have to stop and let pedestrians cross. We need a traffic light at Avenue of the Fountains and Saguaro and Avenue of the Fountains and La Montana.
