ORIGINAL STORY: The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is calling the death of a man found in a parking lot on Laser Drive last week a homicide.
Capt. Hank Brandimarte, MCSO commander for District 7 based in Fountain Hills, said the investigation is ongoing but focused on specific people involved.
“This incident is isolated and not a random event,” Brandimarte said. “There is no cause for concern to our community.”
The deceased has been identified as Tanner McLaws, 39, of Payson.
MCSO said the medical examiner has not determined a cause of death.
Brandimarte said there was a second male subject in his early 40s being treated for injuries in connection with the incident, but he had no further information related to the second person.
Deputies responded around midnight Wednesday, Jan. 24, to a report of a man down behind the Target store. They located the man in the 16000 block of Laser Drive, lying in a parking lot.
