The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a spate of theft and vandalism incidents that occurred in Fountain Hills last week.

On Wednesday, Jan. 4, several residents reported the tires were slashed on their vehicles parked in the commercial area near Colony Drive and Saguaro Boulevard.

Also, The Times received a report that a vehicle parked at the First Baptist Church in the 10000 block of Saguaro had its tires slashed.

That incident occurred early Thursday morning and a report was not yet available from the Sheriff’s Office as of this writing.

MCSO Capt. Dave Letourneau, commander for the Sheriff’s District 7 based in Fountain Hills, said as many as 18 vehicles had tire damage as a result of the vandalism.

Letourneau said detectives have little to go on related to the incidents. He said they have been able to pinpoint the time in some instances to around 5 a.m.

On Monday, Jan. 2, deputies received reports of several incidents in which windows were broken out of parked vehicles and property stolen. One of those incidents was reported on Desert Vista while the vehicle owner was at the dog park.

Similar thefts were reported the same day with vehicles parked at the Peaks Fitness facility in the 12000 block of Saguaro Boulevard. There were four victims who were all Fountain Hills residents.

Those victims reported purses, wallets, cash, bank cards and ID stolen from the vehicles.
