A Fountain Hills woman received minor injuries when her car went off the road on Keota Drive about 9 p.m. Tuesday, but two children, ages four and 14, who were passengers were unhurt in the accident.
The teenage passenger told deputies the driver lost control when she swerved to avoid a coyote in the road.
The car struck an embankment and came to rest on its side against a tree about 20 feet off the roadway.

Vehicle swerves into desert

A Fountain Hills woman received minor injuries when her car went off the road on Keota Drive about 9 p.m. Tuesday, but two children, ages four and 14, who were passengers were unhurt in the accident.
The teenage passenger told deputies the driver lost control when she swerved to avoid a coyote in the road.
The car struck an embankment and came to rest on its side against a tree about 20 feet off the roadway.
A Sheriff’s deputy helped the four-year-old out through a skylight in the car and the older girl was helped out through the front when the windshield was removed.
The driver was extricated from the wreck after the roof was cut away from the vehicle.
