The Verdes Habitat for Humanity organization is working on its 29th home for the charitable organization this winter season.
On Sunday, Dec. 8, the family that will be the beneficiary of this year’s project was introduced at church services in Rio Verde.
The Zamoras learned about Habitat through a friend and are thrilled to have been selected for ownership, according to Christie Gorsline, spokesperson for Verdes Habitat Project.
Homeowners are selected based on three criteria: the applicant’s level of need, their ability to repay an interest free mortgage and their willingness and ability to help build the home.
Alexandra Zamora said she is excited to have been selected for homeownership as she sees it as a significant stepping stone toward a brighter, more secure future for her family.
Alexandra is employed as an office clerk and balances her professional life with the joys and challenges of being a single parent to Damian (13), Mareli (12) and Camila (4). They currently live with her parents and brother in a small house with limited space for seven people.
Mareli aspires to be a lawyer, Damian wants to join the National Guard and Camila thinks she might one day become a teacher.
The Zamora family fills their days with camping adventures and lively game nights; nurturing the children’s passion for art and science. Gorsline said that under Alexandra’s loving guidance, they are growing into kind and ambitious individuals.
