Vernon Cook joins VFW

Fountain Hills VFW Post 7507 has welcomed its first new member of 2014.

Vernon Cook, a U.S. Army Korean War veteran who earned both the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal, was presented with the VFW emblem, the Cross of Malta, and sworn in by Commander Al Shattuck at the January business meeting.

Post 7507 is the local Fountain Hills, North Scottsdale and Verde Communities chapter of the national VFW organization. The VFW's mission is to “honor the dead by helping the living” through veterans’ service, community service, national security and a strong national defense.
