Vietnam

President Obama owes my husband, a Vietnam veteran, an apology for his rapprochement with North Vietnam. He also has inflamed the passions of all the other Vietnam vets who still remember the horrors of this war.

He should publicly say, “Sorry I offended your patriotism and courage,” to men like John McCain, who suffered inhumane torture in the ‘Hanoi Hilton.’ He should get down on his knees, the way he does bowing down to the Arabs, and ask forgiveness to the American soldiers who sacrificed limbs and lives and thank them for stemming the flow of Communism.

If supporters of Bernie Sanders think that Socialism is such a great alternative to the freedoms we enjoy in the United States, they should spend time in communist countries before voting. Let’s see how fast they change their minds when they are obligated under a repressive regime to relinquish the freedoms they take for granted, and for which these soldiers fought to protect.

President Obama was never in the military, he has no concept of the hell of war! My husband was lucky, he returned alive but with a combat disability and the indelible memory of the deaths of his classmates and airlifting hundreds of flag-draped coffins of his comrades back to their grieving families.

Our present Commander-in-Chief owes an apology to these veterans who fought in Vietnam. They understood that the only way to dispel our adversaries was to maintain a strong military as a deterrent to spreading of world-wide Communism.

If President Obama will not say “thank you for keeping us free,” and wishes to join Jane Fonda in linking arms with the North Vietnamese, he will go down in history as a president who disrespected the integrity of these heroes.
