The Fountain Hills Activity Center will offer the Virtual Dementia Experience at the Community Center on Thursday, Jan. 17, between 1 and 3:45 p.m. There will be 15-minute time slots.

This is not a test to identify/diagnose dementia. It is designed to give family and caregivers an insight into this disease.

The Virtual Dementia Experience will take participants from the beginning to late stages of the disease process. Using special glasses and headsets experience the realities of living with dementia while facing the overwhelming effects of trying to perform activities of everyday living.

Unlike other virtual dementia programs, this comprehensive session encompasses tasks and exercises that are essential for professionals, caregivers, family and friends to experience. This “experience” will put one a step closer to truly empathizing with someone with memory impairment.

The program is hosted by Silverado Scottsdale/Memory Care Community. Staff with Silverado Scottsdale Memory Care will be providing the experience.
