The Fountain Hills High School beach volleyball team added one more win to its perfect record, a win that also netted FHHS their section championship.

On March 28 the Lady Falcons faced off against Veritas Prep at Scottsdale Ranch Park. Following the trend of the past two games, FHHS did not lose a set and bested Veritas 5-0.

The Lady Falcons have a bye week this week. Their next match will be against the also undefeated Valley Christian on April 10.

The Valley Christian game will be away but the next day, April 11, the Lady Falcons will have their last home game against North Pointe. April 11 is also Senior Night for FHHS beach volleyball.

In the match against Veritas the strength of the Lady Falcons pairings is what led to the 5-0 win.

“We won handily,” head coach Pete McGloin said. “None of our teams lost a set. So everything was a convincing 2-0 victory for all the pairs, one through five.”

One especially strong pairing was the team made up by Alexa Armenta and KC McMahon in the ones spot. They have been undefeated since they were paired earlier this season.

Another pair McGloin says he is “gushing about all the time” is the team of Paula Iwaoka and Barett Nolan.

“That pair plays the game the way it should be played,” McGloin said. “I am just so happy with that team.”

McGloin said that he “could say something nice about every pair” and is happy with where the Lady Falcons are now.
