Vote for kids

Don’t vote to hurt our children just because you are mad at the School Board.

I’m writing this letter to encourage Fountain Hills voters to join me in voting for the Fountain Hills School District’s Capital Outlay Override that will be on the Nov. 4 ballot. This override is a renewal and will result in no increase in taxes. The override was first approved by the voters in 1999 and has been renewed continuously for the past 15 years.

Fountain Hills voters, I am sure, are aware of how quickly technology changes and evolves. This tax override is mostly for technology and it is imperative that our students and teachers remain close to the cutting edge of technology to maximize individual performance in learning.

Therefore, approval of this capital override will result in $750,000 annually for the next seven years to be spent for student textbooks and online activities, student computers and instructional software, ADA compliance and student transportation vans, furniture and equipment.

It appears that many individuals, who are upset over the firing of long- time school teacher Pam Aister, believe that they can punish the School Board by voting to defeat the override.

Please don’t vote to hurt our children just because you are mad at the School Board.

There are three open seats on the School Board that are to be filled at next month’s election. Those who are mad at the School Board should make their unhappiness known in that election.

Let’s get out and vote yes to support our children.
