Vote tallies for local officials

There weren’t many surprises in the election races to determine local representation in the State Legislature and Congress in last week’s election.

Congressman David Schweikert was easily returned to the U.S. House of Representatives for District 6.

Schweikert received 129,527 (65 percent) votes compared to 70,171 (35 percent) for his Democratic challenger John Williamson.

There weren’t many surprises in the election races to determine local representation in the State Legislature and Congress in last week’s election.

Congressman David Schweikert was easily returned to the U.S. House of Representatives for District 6.

Schweikert received 129,527 (65 percent) votes compared to 70,171 (35 percent) for his Democratic challenger John Williamson.

John Kavanagh is now State Senator-Elect for District 23 in the Arizona State Legislature.

Kavanagh received 49,620 (62.4 percent) votes, and his Democratic challenger, Paula Pennypacker received 29,795 (37.5 percent).

For the State House of Representatives for District 23 incumbent Michelle Ugenti received 51,094 votes and Jay Lawrence will take Kavanagh’s former House seat with 44,432 votes.

Ugenti and Lawrence were unopposed in the General Election.

These numbers are still unofficial as of Monday, Nov. 10, at 5 p.m.
