Habitat for Humanity has a tradition that goes with its project homes.
Once the wall framing is up and before the drywall is installed, they hold a “wall signing ceremony.” Family, friends and volunteers gather at the site and using marking pens, everyone is invited to sign their best wishes and blessings for the family who will live at the home. Once the walls are covered over, the messages are there as long as the house remains.
On Saturday, Dec. 2, Verde Community residents who are volunteers for a Habitat project in Tempe gathered at the site for the ceremony to honor the Esteban family who will live there when the home is completed later next spring.
