Walton E. Clevenger, age 88, of Fountain Hills, formerly of Minnetrista, Minn. passed away on Oct. 13, 2015.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; a son, Dr. Charles Clevenger (Wanda); daughters, Jana Clevenger and Cara Howe (Randy); and grandchildren, Ali Howe, Peter Clevenger and Jane Howe. He is also survived by a brother, George Clevenger and sister, Betty Jo Lundegaard.
Wally grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from West High School. While attending the University of Minnesota he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and was stationed in Hawaii during World War II.
After the war he returned home and graduated from the University of Minnesota where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was employed in sales at a number of printing companies and eventually became the successful owner of Stationers Engraving in St. Paul.
Wally was very active in local government serving on the Lake Minnetonka conservation District Board and the Minnetrista Council for many years as well as nine year as mayor.
He was a longtime member of Excelsior United Methodist and Trinity Lutheran churches.
Wally had many favorite pastimes; playing handball, skiing and boating on Lake Minnetonka, eating ice cream, watching classic westerns on TV and enjoying a good nap.
