Watercolorists reception to be held in Fountain Hills

Free artist reception is Sept. 19

Posted

The Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona (CWA) is hosting its 55th anniversary Fall Member Exhibition at the Fountain Hills Community Center Sept. 4 through Oct. 30

The free exhibit will feature the work of 40 Arizona-based watercolorists who meet monthly to paint.

An artist reception featuring a total of 52 water media paintings will be on display on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be available at the free reception.

The CWA is a non-profit organization that began in 1969, formed by a group of professional art teachers and accomplished artists who met first to paint together and then to critique their paintings.

The group comes up with unusual ideas so the artwork is creative, spontaneous and whimsical, a press release read.

The purpose of the organization is to motivate each artist member to stretch and expand the scope of their work, aim at new goals and reach their next level of accomplishment.

Awards for the work as chosen by jurors will be presented to artists at the exhibition.

Membership is held to 40 artists, and new artists are added by invitation and recommended by a member artist.
