Your present mayor and all of the former mayors who currently reside in Fountain Hills are united in their support of the $8.2 million bond issue to rebuild Saguaro Boulevard, which will be on our local ballot this November. The six of us have had the honor to lead our community since incorporation and we are keenly aware of the requirements needed to maintain this great town in good shape.
Saguaro Blvd. is the main entrance to Fountain Hills and, in many cases, provides the first impression of our town to the many visitors to our community. As one of our three collector roads, it is the oldest and most heavily traveled and is one of two truck routes through our town. With more than 15,000 vehicles using this street every day, it really takes a beating.

For the last couple of years, we have been holding Saguaro Boulevard together with patch jobs that will rapidly deteriorate. Instead of continuous patch jobs, we must pursue the more cost-effective approach of completely rebuilding Saguaro Boulevard so it will remain in good shape for years to come.
Keeping Fountain Hills attractive to potential new residents helps keep our property values high. Furthermore, keeping our roads in good shape contributes to our public safety and personal comfort.
We all support the passage of this bond initiative and hope all of the Fountain Hills voters will do so as well. Anyone who wishes further information may call Bob Thomson, the chair of the “Citizens4Saguaro” support committee, at 480-309-1240 or committee treasurer Jerry Miles at 480-518-5183.
