Weekend freeway closures here

Freeway improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend. The schedules are subject to postponement or changes due to monsoon activity.

The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:

*Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) ramps to Loop 101 (both directions) closed overnight from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (July 18) for paving. Westbound Loop 202 also narrowed to three lanes between Dobson Road and Loop 101. Westbound on-ramp at Dobson Road closed. DETOUR: Alternate routes while Loop 202 ramps are closed include McKellips Road, or Dobson Road to Rio Salado Parkway.

The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:

*Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) ramps to Loop 101 (both directions) closed overnight from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (July 18) for paving. Westbound Loop 202 also narrowed to three lanes between Dobson Road and Loop 101. Westbound on-ramp at Dobson Road closed. *Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Greenfield and Higley roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday (July 18) for widening project. Westbound Loop 202 closed between Greenfield and McDowell roads from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday (July 19) for widening project. DETOUR: Alternate routes include McKellips Road.

*Eastbound Interstate 10 (toward Tucson) narrowed to one lane between Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and Queen Creek Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (July 18) for equipment installation. Eastbound on-ramp at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard closed. Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane between Queen Creek Road and Wild Horse Pass Boulevard from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (July 19) for equipment installation. Westbound on-ramp at Queen Creek Road closed. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and use caution in work zone.

*Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane in either direction overnight in areas between 19th Avenue and the I-10/I-17 “Split” interchange near Sky Harbor Airport from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (July 18) for lane-marker installation. DETOUR: Alternate routes include I-10 in the downtown Phoenix area.

*Northbound Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane overnight in areas between Jomax Road and New River Road from 9 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday (July 19) and from 9 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday (July 20) for lane-marker installation. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and use caution in work zone.

*Eastbound Interstate 10 (toward Phoenix) narrowed to one lane overnight between Sarival Avenue and Dysart Road in Goodyear from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (July 20) for lane-marker installation. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and use caution in work zone.

*Northbound State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) ramp to westbound Loop 101 in north Phoenix closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (July 18) for construction. Northbound SR 51 HOV-lane ramp to eastbound Loop 101 also closed overnight. DETOUR: To connect with westbound Loop 101 use westbound Union Hills Drive and northbound Cave Creek Road.

*Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to two lanes overnight between Dobson Road and Country Club Drive in Mesa from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (July 18) for overhead sign work. Westbound US 60 also narrowed to three lanes overnight between Mesa Drive and Alma School Road during same hours. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and use caution in work zone.

*Country Club Drive closed in both directions at Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday (July 18) for bridge work. DETOUR: Alternate routes include McKellips and Alma School roads.
