Winter doesn’t begin until the first of next week, but here in Fountain Hills a blast of wintry weather moved through this past weekend and into Monday.
High temperatures, even when the sun was shining, barely broke 60 degrees – cooler even than many locales along the east coast.
A secondary storm swept across Arizona Monday morning bringing rain to the Valley, about a quarter inch across much of Fountain Hills. At The Times office on Laser Drive the rain gauge collected about .60-inch over the passing of the two storms through the weekend.

For much of the week skies will be clearing but there is not much warming in the forecast. Highs will reach upper 40s to about 50. It will be Friday before the thermometer goes above 60, according to the National Weather Service.
Be prepared for overnight lows dipping to near freezing.
