Wendell Oliphant

Wendell Ernest Oliphant was born Nov. 12, 1959 in Ohio to George and Ernestine Oliphant. He passed away on Feb. 24, 2014 in Mesa.

He graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in landscape architecture. After receiving his professional registration, Wendell worked for several landscape architecture firms, the Arizona Department of Transportation and had his own firm.

He was a life-long volunteer, working with the Boy Scouts and Fountain Hills Parks and Recreation Commission. He stayed active playing basketball and hiking. He was a big University of Arizona basketball and Phoenix Suns fan.

Wendell is survived by his three children, David, Valerie and Andrew; as well as his father, George; sister, Becky Ozanne; brother, David; and several nephews.
