In a pattern more closely resembling a winter El Nino than a late summer monsoon Fountain Hills received near steady rain between Sunday morning and mid-day Monday.

The southern edge of town was pummeled as a rain gauge outside The Times office on Laser Drive collected 1.4 inches up to 1 p.m. Monday. Most of that fell Monday morning.

In other parts of town the Maricopa County Flood Control District rain gauges received varying amounts between a third to three-quarters of an inch.

In a pattern more closely resembling a winter El Nino than a late summer monsoon Fountain Hills received near steady rain between Sunday morning and mid-day Monday.

The southern edge of town was pummeled as a rain gauge outside The Times office on Laser Drive collected 1.4 inches up to 1 p.m. Monday. Most of that fell Monday morning.

In other parts of town the Maricopa County Flood Control District rain gauges received varying amounts between a third to three-quarters of an inch.

The fire station on Palisades Boulevard near downtown received .64 – inch between 9 a.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. on Monday.

With a gentle but steady rain street flooding was minimal and there were no high winds to threaten trees.

The National Weather Services is keeping a fairly good chance of rain in the forecast through Wednesday, before things return to more normal for the season.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-80s to low 90s over the next few days. Overnight lows will drop into the 70s.
