Fountain Hills received as much as .66-inch of rain from two storms that passed through the Valley over the weekend, although there was no real damage compared to Rio Verde, just eight miles to the north.
The .66-inch fell at the Maricopa County Flood Control District monitoring station in Hesperus Wash near the town's northwest border. Rain gauges collected about a third of an inch at the water tank on Golden Eagle Boulevard just inside the Eagles Nest entry gate, on Laser Drive outside The Times office and at the Sunridge Dam.
Farther north it was a different story as 1.34-inch fell at McDowell Mountain Park, and 2.5 inches were recorded on a private rain gauge in Rio Verde. Rio Verde also experienced damage in the way of numerous uprooted trees and roof damage.
