The Town of Fountain Hills, with Universal Waste Systems, held a public meeting allowing residents to learn more about the new waste service provider as well as ask important questions on the transition.
UWS Vice President Matt Blackburn says the collection days Republic Services, the current waste provider, operates on will remain. When UWS takes over, however, Blackburn says residents are to leave their cans out 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. on their listed collection day for six weeks for crews to swap bins. If for some reason not all bins are switched, Blackburn says residents are to keep leaving their old bins out until crews are able to fully transition.
Once residents receive their new bins they can resume their normal schedule. There is no additional fee for bin pickup and drop off, he added.
