Kevin Wilkinson kicked a field goal during halftime of a Fountain Hills High School (FHHS) football game last fall, and this spring, the McDowell Mountain Elementary School (MMES) principal returns to the high school as a head coach.
At different stages in his career, the former college wrestler has been a high school wrestling coach, middle school golf coach and a high school athletic director. Now, he’s excited to take over a talented FHHS golf team.
“I’m an avid golfer,” Wilkinson said. “I didn’t play in high school or didn’t play competitively until I was in my 20s and 30s, but I did coach three years at middle school in Indiana, so I do have some experience. The Arizona Golf Association has a league here, so I play competitively. It’s obviously for amateurs, but it’s a full-on league where every week we’re at a different course.”
