Will Park Place finally be completed in Fountain Hills?

OPINION – I read the revised development agreement for Park Place from the Oct. 21 council agenda. It passed without discussion, 7-0.

But the history is more complicated. The original agreement was signed by Mayor Kavanagh in 2016. Park Place Phase 1 was built in two years. Since then, that’s all we got. The agreement was renegotiated by Mayor Ginny Dickey, it’s been renewed and a lawsuit was filed by the developer at some point.

This agreement of October, 2025, extends the 2022 development agreement until December, 2025. It stipulates the developer may use old building codes (2018) as long as the permits are paid before Dec. 31, 2025; that Phase 3 must proceed no later than nine months after that, and Phase 2 must proceed in another three months. In other words, the developer has another year to finally start. And 27 months to finish!
