On Feb. 4, 2013 Bill Butler of Rio Verde completed his journey on earth peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

He was born to Edgar Rufus Butler and Lillian Louene Hutchinson Butler on March 28, 1926 in Seattle, Wash. and raised in Portland, Ore.

He was a long time business executive working for several computer hardware and software companies throughout the country retiring in 1995 as President of Document Solutions Inc. in Birmingham, Ala.

He spent the last eight years of his life in Arizona. Following retirement, Bill traveled extensively with his loving wife of 42 years, Marilyn. In addition, he enjoyed time spent with his friends and family. Bill will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, his gift for encouraging others and his love of family and steadfast friendships.

Bill is survived by his wife, Marilyn; and his three children, Michael Butler of Glendale, (Patricia), David Butler of Gilbert (Julie), and Ann Nestler (Stephen) of Cave Creek. Additionally he is survived by his grandchildren, Jason Butler, Melissa Lawrence (Greg), Erin Schmitt (Richard), Jerod Butler, Sarah Butler, Emily Hazel (Jeff), William Butler, Justin Chase, Lindsey Brimhall (Tyler), Richard Nestler, and Gregory Nestler (Alyssa). Bill also has 10 great grandchildren: Justin, Isabel, Cody, Lilyanna, Richard, Tessa, Millie, Jeffrey, David and Kaylee.

The family is very grateful for the wonderful care Bill received from many staff members at the Mayo Clinic. We also thank the Hospice of the Valley for their care and comfort during the last months of his life.

Bill was a member of Mountain View Presbyterian Church at 8050 E. Mt. View Road Scottsdale.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the church on Friday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. Following the service friends and family are invited to a reception lunch at Tonto Verde Golf Club, 18401 El Circulo Drive, Tonto Verde.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Bill’s name to the Mt. View Presbyterian Church for the Scholarship Fund.

Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.
