In reference to Alan’s column in the Feb. 25 edition commenting on Charlie Vascellaro, I just want to say that Charlie is probably one of the most industrious young men my husband, Ken, and I have ever met.
When we moved into our home in Fountain Hills in 1984, Fountain Hills was a much smaller town. We had our belongings, which had been in storage for six years in California, shipped here and when we opened all those boxes, we were wondering…“Why did we keep all this stuff?” Needless to say we had a mountain of trash to haul to a dump site.
In the yellow pages of the local phone book I found “The Wizard of Waste.” I called the number, made an appointment, and Charlie showed up in full Wizard costume, complete with leotards, cape and mask, and he did a marvelous job of relieving us of our burden for a very reasonable price.

From that time until Charlie “retired” the Wiz, he was the one we called when we had trash to haul. Ken and I have always admired his willingness to work hard and pay his own way. We read every article with his byline…way to go Charlie!
