Won't support

I didn’t realize I was in as much step with Mayor Kavanagh till I read her comments about the Pam Aister fiasco; for I too was contacted by Jerry Miles asking for my support for the FHUSD override. Although I am in favor of the issue, I won’t support it unless the School Board sees its error and reinstates Pam Aister.

I also won’t be voting for the incumbent who is running for re-election who voted for her removal; and further take a strong look at Mr. Lawrence for not only his decision on supporting the removal but on his attitude during the whole affair.

I attended the first “public hearing” and it was my opinion that he was in step with the FHUSD lawyer, and the hearing officer, as to showing any concern for the public and that it was a waste of time since they had their minds made up anyway.

It comes down to the incident itself. It lasted less than a minute and it went this way, as I understand it. Ms. Aister was alerted to something going on out of her sight, she was the duty teacher, she went to the area where the situation was occurring and in her stated opinion it appeared to be a bullying situation; there were five kids involved, three white, two black, one of the black kids was standing alone, the other four were taunting him; the video shows the kids were beginning to disperse before Ms Aister got in the middle of it. It then became a “he said, she said” situation that lasted about 15 seconds.

So we have a teacher performing her duty, stopping a situation from getting worse and saying a few words to diffuse the situation from reoccurring, and a board taking the word of a distraught mother and son over the teacher’s.
