Words are the foundation of communication and miscommunication. It is important for people to say what they think, but it is more important that they think about what they say.
In reality, words are merely stick figures or symbols arranged in a particular order to express a thought creation of the mind and have no life of their own. It is only the thought and intent behind the words expressed and in the mind of the recipient that gives the words their power.

Therein lies the conflict of communication between the words formed and the intent conceived in the mind of the originator, who is the only one to know the true meaning and intent of the symbols. The person hearing or reading the words can only interpret the words through their own mind experience. Thus, a conundrum of communication.
There are multiple examples of this confusion; however, let us choose the word “guilt.” I am sure that at one time or another in our lives we all have had a sense of guilt over something or have had guilt heaped upon us. The intensity of the feeling of guilt can not only affect a person’s self-image, but also can influence the body’s chemistry and energy levels.
A solution to this problem is the mere reframing of the word “guilt.” Suppose instead of perceiving the negative image of the word “guilt” we see it as “remorse.” The energy behind the word “remorse” actually suggests a recognition of perhaps wrong thinking or wrongdoing and promotes a sense of “I intend not doing or saying that again.” The whole energy pattern has been shifted. Thus, it behooves us to be aware of our words and choose them thoughtfully and wisely.
