Work begins on Saguaro rebuild

The first phase of construction on the Saguaro Boulevard re-build is underway as crews have closed the southbound lanes of Saguaro between Fountain Hills Boulevard and La Montana Drive.

As of Monday this week workers had begun removing the old curbing, which will be replaced. The project calls for removal of the old roadway asphalt and base down to 12 inches. The base will be replaced with six to eight inches of new material with four to six inches of new asphalt for the new surface.

Access to residential neighborhood streets is being maintained during construction, as will business access as the project moves south.
