Mr. Winterfield, You write about demographics and a strategic planning commission for the town that embraces the senior citizens.
While I agree with a planning commission that cares about Fountain Hills, I disagree with the comments regarding how the town caters to younger “liberal” voters.
I have lived here for many years now and would argue the vast majority of decisions cater to our seniors.

In my opinion, as a younger, non-liberal voter, this town needs a mayor and council that targets the needs and concerns of both parties equally. It is critical to cater to the needs of our winter visitors and year- round senior crowd, as well as the needs of the year-round families that grace our fine town.
Each demographic requires a local government that overwhelmingly supports each age bracket for the vitality of this town.
To say you like Fountain Hills the way it is, is the reason downtown has remained a dirt lot for so many years, businesses come and go, and the reason the town is not seeing the economic growth we need to sustain and grow.
Change is inevitable and should be embraced, not feared. A mayor and Town Council that support this idea would see less of our residents’ traveling out of town to spend their money, time and tax dollars there, and in turn would see more local spending, events and community involvement, tourism, etc., which encourages our local vitality, growth and town health.
Both demographics should work together to continue to grow this wonderful town and elect a government that understands and cares about all people, not one specific group or age.
