Wrestling club hits the mat
The Fountain Hills Wrestling Club has officially begun its spring season and local youngsters interested in taking part are invited to register in order to learn the sport.
Classes are being offered for Pre-kindergarten through third grade students from 4 to 5 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays. Grades four through eight will practice from 5 to 6 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays.
Practices began March 21, but participants are still welcome to register.
Athletes must wear shorts and a t-shirt, athletic shoes for off mat workouts, socks and wrestling shoes are preferred for on the mat.
This club is for boys and girls who want to become better athletes, not just wrestlers. All practices will focus on balance, coordination, core strength and proprioception.
Cost is $50, which includes all 20 practices, a USA Wrestling Card and t-shirt. Scholarships are available.
Practices will be held in the high school wrestling room, located in the big gym.
For questions or to register, contact coach Gabe Koepp at gabe.koepp@gmail.com.
