Linda Kavanagh has won two elections, but she ran “unopposed” both times. The first time she won (2012) with only 62 percent of the raw vote (total number of voters who cast a ballot), and the second time (2014) with only 69 percent.

The 2012 election was also a recall election, where Councilman Henry Leger was opposed. Councilman Leger won that recall, and in so doing, actually collected a larger number of votes than our current Mayor did running unopposed!

What does all of this mean? Voters either purposely didn’t vote in the Fountain Hills mayor’s race because of whatever reason, and/or they wrote somebody in (Mickey Mouse, Batman, Wonder Woman, you name it) who was not a sanctioned write-in candidate. What those voters were doing is that they just couldn’t vote for Linda Kavanagh – knowing all along that their vote would not count for anyone.

They purposely wasted their vote as a message of disenchantment with the current Mayor. What’s different now is that in this August’s municipal non-partisan election, a write-in vote won’t be wasted.

Ginny Dickey offers a choice, and with your write-in vote for Ginny, the vote counts! No one will be wasting their vote. And the election is now – in August, not November.

Write-in Ginny Dickey and connect the arrow next to her name. Do it for Fountain Hills.
