I believe Ginny Dickey, Mike Archambault and Dennis Brown are the wrong candidates for our Town Council. My main reason is they support a town property tax.
Here is what they have not told you about the tax. First, once this tax is approved by the citizens of our town, we will “never have a say in it again.”
Second, there is no way the money from this tax can be designated for a specific use. It cannot be used only for repairs or maintenance of roads, buildings or parks. Third, the town council can raise the tax two percent per year forever. Ten years, 20 percent, and we have no say in that.

They claim this tax will add financial stability to our town. The only thing stable about this tax is it will continue to go up and they can spend it on whatever they want.
Here is a look at what I remember of how they might spend the money. Dickey has said she thought it would be quaint to have a gazebo in the Fountain Park. For those of you that don’t know what a gazebo is, it’s a small, open, roofed building. Maybe she would have the town hire a tuba band to play in it on Sundays.
Archambault wanted a town cemetery. I heard of people dying to get into them, but have not heard people want to spend millions to own and operate them.
Brown has stated the town staff was reduced from 181 down to 54. Is he favoring an increase back to 181? I ask again, “what were these people doing?” Nothing changed without them.
I am not attacking these candidates personally. I’m sure they are fine people. I am against tax and spend government and those who favor it.
