Yet another tropical storm to bring rain

Yet another tropical storm threatens to bring showers and cooler temperatures to the Phoenix area by mid-week, according to the National Weather Service.

Clouds and showers will spread north into Arizona during the day Tuesday, with rainfall becoming more widespread overnight Tuesday night and into the day on Wednesday.

The substantial increase in clouds and showers will lead to much cooler high temperatures across the central deserts. High temperatures in the greater Phoenix area will fall into the 80s both Tuesday and Wednesday, with Wednesday likely to be the coolest day. The local forecast for Fountain Hills calls for a 40 percent chance of rain on Wednesday.

Locally heavy rain is certainly possible starting overnight Tuesday night and continuing into Wednesday, and some of the wetter deserts could pick up rainfall totals that are well in excess of one inch. For the most part, the rainfall will be on the showery side but isolated thunderstorms are possible.

Gusty winds and locally heavy rain are possible with any storm that develops.
