You can make a difference

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.”

The above quotation is attributed to Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to millions simply as Dr. Seuss.

We’re rather confident that Dr. Seuss penned this comment before “Make a Difference Day” was invented, but it sure could be applied to this giant day of volunteerism scheduled nationwide for Saturday, Oct. 24.

One of the more unique features of Fountain Hills is the strong core of volunteer groups that exist – seems a whole lot of people care a whole awful lot for all types of causes.

Can more be done?

Of course – and that’s why hundreds of volunteers will gather that Saturday at Golden Eagle Park to work on 35-plus projects scattered throughout our town. It’s truly a showcase of generosity and kindness for our community. But more can be done – and more volunteers are always needed.

One can only watch so much cable TV – sometimes it’s better to get out of the house and meet new people. Get involved. Volunteer for a worthy cause. Help other folks in some manner. Make a Difference Day provides just that opportunity.

Looking to get involved? Expand your boundaries? Help out mankind? If so, go to the town website at www.fh.az.gov/madd. Online registration is simple. Then show up at Golden Eagle Park on Oct. 24.

“This is a great opportunity to strengthen ties in our community as well as address existing needs,” said Heather Ware, the town’s volunteer coordinator.

We couldn’t agree more – it’s time to make a difference!
