Fountain Hills Youth Theater opens its second production of the new season Friday, Feb. 15.

“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” follows six awkward adolescents through their daunting and hilarious spelling bee championship quest.

As they navigate the tournament’s pressures, the eccentric band finds a new sense of belong. Along the way, they learn there is more to life than winning a trophy.

“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” runs through Sunday, March 3, as part of the youth theater’s 17th full time season.

“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is produced by Aimee Avery and directed by Ross Collins, musically directed by Jay Melberg and choreographed by Jenny Iverson.

The play features Allison Avery, Will Alterman, Katherine Baier, Zolton Bonnenfant, Spencer Cihak, Kaitlyn Hohl, Connor Klein, Victoria Pond, Tori Richter and Sophia Vanella.

The production takes place on the Youth Stage at Fountain Hills Theater, 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd.
