Kathy Ann Young

Posted

Kathy Ann Piwinski Young, 37, of Fountain Hills, passed away peacefully with her loving husband, Jimmy, and her daughter, Kylie, at her side after a nearly two-year-long battle with breast cancer on Feb. 15, 2018.

Kathy was born Oct. 16, 1980 and raised in Chicago, Ill. She had a love for sports and comradery between siblings, growing up playing softball in Chicago. Kathy was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, always cheering for her hometown teams.

Frequent family vacations to Arizona during her childhood resulted in a yearning for desert living. Once her parents decided to retire to Arizona, she decided that was where she wanted to be.

In 2005 Kathy and her daughter, Kylie, moved to Fountain Hills to pursue a career in health care. She soon began a fairytale love story after she met Jimmy Young at a softball game in Fountain Hills. It was love at first sight. Forever their lives changed, and with destiny on their side, they made a life together, finally making it official in front of God, family and friends on Nov. 29, 2014 after almost 10 years of dating, in a wonderful ceremony in Cave Creek at one of Kathy’s favorite venues.

Kathy, her family, and her friends, all enjoyed camping, fishing, trail riding and hiking, with a special place in her heart for the Mogollon Rim and the town of Crown King. Kathy’s love to care and nurture everyone around her garnered her many lifetime friends that she considered family. Kathy became a pillar in the community of Fountain Hills, by joining Fountain Hills Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, assisting Dr. Jyoti Patel in 2008.

Kathy was a part of the planning committee formed to bring the Fountain Hills Community Garden to life. Kathy was very supportive of her husband when he started his business, Horizon Pool Care, in 2006, trying her best to help him be successful with his own dreams.

Kathy’s fight with cancer was very memorable, in that Kathy never let her sickness bother her or direct her life. Kathy could always be found with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye, extending any help or advice she could give, never worrying about her own issues. Once Kathy’s cancer became terminal she took part in investigational medicine hoping to provide data on research that could one day help someone survive her same disease because of her efforts.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Young; daughter, Kylie Howard; parents, John and Linda Piwinski; brother, John Piwinski (Ashley); sister, Sue Piwinski; brother, Michael Renkosiak; brother-in-law, Sonny Young (Angela); sister-in-law, Desiree Young Hickey (Kurt); mother-in-law, Alfreda Young; nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and many friends.

She was a best friend, a favorite aunt, a respectful and caring daughter and sibling, and a loving mother and wife. This young, beautiful, brilliant and loving woman will be sadly missed by so many and her spirit will remain forever. Kathy was very supportive of cancer research and we ask that you donate to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation @ www.tnbcfoundation.org in her honor.

A funeral service will be held at Harvest Bible Church on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at 4 p.m., located at 15202 N. Fountain Hills Blvd. Fountain Hills AZ 85268, with a celebration of the love and life of Kathy Young immediately following.
