For five years, massage therapist Sue Jiang has provided Asian natural healing massage treatments to improve the quality of her clients’ daily existence.
“I change a lot of people’s lives,” said Jiang, owner of Asian Natural Healing Massage, 16751 E. Parkview Ave., suite 1.
She offers traditional Chinese medical deep tissue massage known as Tui Na, literally translated to “push and hold.” Tui Na was first introduced in the Tang Dynasty in about 1300 A.D.
“It’s totally different than regular massage,” said Jiang. She uses her hands, elbows and feet on body pressure points to relieve acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
With Ashiatsu massage, originally performed by Buddhist monks, she holds onto a bar over the treatment table to avoid applying too much pressure on the individual’s back as she walks on it and uses her feet to massage the sore areas.
Among the chronic conditions are nerve pain, vertigo, migraine headaches, insomnia, hypertension, edema, sciatica and detoxification.
She received her training in acupuncture and medicine at the university in Beijing, China. She returns to China every summer to visit her parents.
The single mother of a 23-year-old son has lived in the United States for 10 years. She moved to town within the past three months to reduce her commute time.
In the past six months, Jiang hired two massage therapists, Mandy and Cynthia, to assist with increased business.
Clients tell Jiang that her massage techniques relieve aches and pain that have existed for years.
“From my heart, I want to help people,” said Jiang.
The business does not accept any insurance. Tui Na massage costs $150 an hour. Prices for other massages range from $60 to $80 per hour. Gift certificates are available.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., weekdays, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
Walk-ins are accepted. To make a reservation, call 480-816-1700.
