Fountain Hills residents voted in a special election for the Fountain Hills Unified School District (FHUSD), with initial results showing participants rejecting a school bond initiative and approving a measure to authorize the district to sell, lease or exchange the former Four Peaks Elementary School property. Results will be updated in the coming days.
On the matter of the school bond, the measure received 3,724 votes (43.03%) in favor and 4,931 votes (56.97%) opposed. Concerning the district property, 5,822 votes (68.53%) were in favor of the measure with 2,674 votes (31.47%) opposed.
Ballots in this mail-only election were sent out in early October, but those who did not receive a ballot, spoiled their initial ballot or were too late to mail them back were able to complete the process on Election Day, Nov. 7. Polls closed at 7 p.m.
