Fountain Hills Stitchers of Hope member sews 1,000th dress

Elfriede Noss says sewing brings her purpose

For the last eight years, Fountain Hills resident Elfriede Noss has volunteered with Stitchers of Hope and recently sewed her 1,000th dress.

“My goal was to sew 1,000 dresses. I didn’t set a time limit. I didn’t force myself to sew. I just love what I do,” Noss said, who found inspiration from her granddaughter, Serena.

When Noss was visiting her granddaughter one day, she saw 1,000 handmade, white, origami cranes hanging throughout her room.
