Gubernatorial candidate speaks to Fountain Hills Republicans

Republican club hears from three speakers

Over 100 members of the Fountain Hills Republican Club (FHRC) recently gathered for a club meeting, marking the early start to the 2026 election cycle.

The event featured presentations from two candidates and a look into the future of the Republican Party through its youth movement.

U.S. Congressman and candidate for Arizona governor Andy Biggs was the keynote speaker. Endorsed by President Trump, Biggs underscored his close relationship with the president, even quipping about having his cell number, said FHRC’s program chair and First Vice President Boe James.

“Biggs articulated a strong platform centered on border security, emphasizing collaboration between state and federal law enforcement and echoing President Trump’s support for local police,” James said. “He advocated for a significant shift towards federalism, returning control over areas like education from Washington D.C. to the states.”

Biggs expressed his support for EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s efforts to reduce regulations that hinder economic growth and “championed Trump’s initiative to devolve regulatory power to the states.”

A key component of Biggs’ economic strategy for Arizona includes lowering state income taxes to attract and foster business development, said James. He also linked a more secure border to a reduction in human and sex trafficking.

Biggs stressed the importance of streamlining water and other regulations to further incentivize business growth in Arizona. Biggs also committed to drafting legislation and identifying appointees swiftly upon election, aiming to enact key bills near his first day in office.

The club also heard from Arizona Legislative District 3 Representative Alex Kolodin, a candidate for Secretary of State.

Kolodin, a seasoned legal professional, highlighted his background in election integrity, recalling a successful legal battle against the government shortly after law school.

As Secretary of State, Kolodin pledged to continue prioritizing election integrity issues, James said.

“He recounted his past triumph over current Secretary of State Adrian Fontes in an election malfeasance case and detailed his role in implementing key election rules in 2024, including early voting ID requirements, and the counting of drop-off ballots at polling locations,” James said.

Kolodin also detailed his successful “battle” to overturn procedural changes Fontes attempted to implement in the Election Manual.

Upon election, Kolodin promised to respect voters, ensure transparency and adhere to existing election laws.

Maricopa Young Republicans

The Maricopa Young Republicans also presented to the club, led by Councilmember Hannah Toth Larrabee.

Larrabee highlighted that Maricopa’s Young Republicans constitute 75% of Arizona’s total Young Republicans. She explained that the group aims to introduce individuals aged 18-40 to conservative politics.

James says that the Arizona Young Republicans are actively fundraising for a delegation to attend the National Young Republicans Convention in Nashville, with a raffle drawing scheduled for the first week of August.

Those interested in contributing were invited to contact Mrs. Larrabee.

The Fountain Hills Republican Club’s next meeting is Monday, July 21, which will continue featuring candidates in the 2026 elections. Keynote speakers will be incumbent candidates for the Arizona Corporation Commission Nick Myers and Kevin Thompson, along with Kim George, a candidate for Legislative District Three.
