Harold Edward Smith was born to Grady and Lorean Smith on Feb. 13, 1937. Our dad/poppy passed away June 18, 2014 (2:18 a.m.) at home with his family beside him.
Harold was in the Army. After his discharge he became a member of the carpenters’ union (Local 906). In later years Harold also was a member of the Desert Country Musicians.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara K. Hawes-Smith; five daughters, Pamela (Pam) Smith, Lorrain (Lorrie) Smith-Morris (Dan), Christine (Chris) Smith-Goodrich (Brandon), Kimberly (Kim) Hawes-Penunuri, Ashley Hawes-Hicks (Stephen); a son, Grady (Ed) Smith (Chrystal); sister, Shirley Cornado; 24 grandkids, seven great-grandkids and several nieces and nephews.
Harold is preceded in death by both parents, Grady and Lorean Smith; sister, Jody Slater; daughter, Tami Smith-Jones; and a grandson, Randy Lomonaco.
Services have been held. Resting place is the National Memorial Cemetery of Phoenix.
Harold loved his family and we loved him, and we will miss our dad and poppy forever.
