A medical care clinic with the potential of employing between 50 and 100 could start construction soon.

Town economic development director Scott Cooper recently told a Chamber of Commerce committee that he has been involved for a couple of years to recruit a medical business.

A 15,000 to 20,000 square foot building is planned for the southeast corner of Palisades Boulevard and Westby Drive.

In addition to immediate medical care, the proposed clinic also would provide sports medicine, physical therapy and athletic training services,

The facility would be built in partnership with a proposed adjacent project, Copper Ridge, a large mixed-use development on 12.24 acres.

The property, extending from La Montana Drive along the Avenue of the Fountains and north along Westby Drive to Palisades Boulevard, is expected to close in the next few weeks. Closing on the vacant site which wraps around Fountain Hills Plaza (Bashas’ supermarket center) is scheduled for June.

“I imagine they will want to start [construction] pretty quick after that,” said Cooper.

Americana Development and Building Co. is the developer. The first phase would consist of a 132 apartment, age-restricted independent living building and a 20,000-square-foot clubhouse. The minimum age for a resident would be 62 years old.

The second phase of construction would include 52 memory care units and 60 assisted living rooms.

The final and third phase would be 40,000 square feet of commercial space along Palisades Boulevard and La Montana Drive.
