Savage: Arpaio has the executive pedigree to be mayor

Posted

The upcoming Fountain Hills Town Council and mayoral elections are a hot topic, with some saying Mayor Dickey is the favorite. Really? It was she and fellow Democrats who supported that disgraceful show at a recent town council meeting to support their ethics complaint against Councilman Skillicorn. How was that anything but unethical?

Democrats seem to be more devoted to eliminating competition than they are in serving the people. This same tactic is used by Democrats in our county, state, and federal governments. Their main weapon is character assassination.

The Fountain Hills candidate forums that occurred recently did little to reveal the views of candidates about government corruption promoting open borders, deficit spending, politically motivated lawfare, but blocking election integrity initiatives. Discussions about these failures will tell us if candidates believe in individual freedom and limited government, or the converse.

We have a mayor who, according to her bio, is a quintessential bureaucrat whose experience is in public administration. Economic growth is produced by the private sector, not by government,  which only hampers growth through regulation and taxation. So, in Fountain Hills we need to direct our energies away from government and onto the private sector business environment. New leadership is needed for this job.

Among the candidates for Mayor, only one comes with an executive pedigree and that is Joe Arpaio. The main claim from his detractors is his age. Last I noticed, he appears sharper than Joe Biden. More importantly, the mayoral term is two years. If there has been no progress made in turning things around in Fountain Hills, then the voters can make another change.
