Golden Age of Radio presents a special Halloween treat when “The Shadow” makes an appearance at its meeting Thursday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. in the Fountain Hills Community Center.

Listen as The Shadow, a super-hero protected by invisibility and the ability to cloud men’s minds, confronts terrifying and horrific criminals in Golden Age of Radio’s replaying of complete programs that are sure to rekindle many memories, said a press release.

In these never-to-be-forgotten shows, the Shadow’s alter-ego Lamont Cranston and his friend and companion Margot Lane work together to help the Shadow thwart the, “…evil that lurks in the hearts of men.”

One of the most popular radio programs of all time, The Shadow began its run with Orson Welles as both The Shadow and Lamont Cranston plus Agnes Moorehead playing Margot Lane.

Many classic radio programs are contained in the extensive Golden Age of Radio Bruce Florence Library, timeless radio broadcasts on records, cassette tapes and compact discs.

Membership in the Community Center is required to attend meetings of the Golden Age of Radio.

For more information, contact Bill Whittaker at 480-837-7961 or the Community Center at 480-816-5200.

From the twilight of the Jazz Age to the dawn of the Space Age, The Golden Age of Radio celebrates the reign of the first electronic medium, the then-modern miracle that brought news, entertainment and information into homes throughout a significant period of history.
