Focus Comics held a graduation ceremony at Luke Air Force Base Saturday, June 1, in celebration of its students’ completion of the Focus Comic U.S. Air Force Hero Art program.
Focus Comics hosts free art camps for autistic and special needs kids and recently launched its U.S. Air Force military art program, inviting Air Force Master Sergeant (MSgt) Gabe Ulibarri as the special guest speaker and character model.
Ulibarri is a U.S. Air Force firefighter and paramedic who also works at Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department.
The students enjoyed a question-and-answer session, learning about the world of firefighters and the technology, vehicles and equipment, a press release said, adding that Ulibarri has saved thousands of lives in the line of duty.
The students also learned how to operate one of the U.S. Air Force crash vehicles and received art supplies and Luke Air Force Base gifts to celebrate their accomplishments.
The graduation ceremony had 11 students participate. The U.S. Air Force Hero Art program was created and facilitated by Focus Comics Owner Yvonne Wan.
