Freeman: Kim Duckworth is the right choice for school board

Posted

Our town needs to elect Kim Duckworth to the board of Fountain Hills Unified School District. Kim is a proud mother of two wonderful boys. She has a deep passion for education and a strong desire to contribute to our community.

Recently, Kim was PTO co-president, where she worked closely with parents, teachers and administrators fundraising to bring educational student enrichment activities to our schools. She gave her time as a room mom in her older son’s classes years ago because she believes in supporting teachers and helping with educational activities.

Her background as a project manager for law firms and technology companies will help her represent our students as well. She honed her skills in organization, communication and problem-solving throughout her career.

Her platform includes the following:

Every student deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential and receive an education that prepares them for success. As a school board member, she will advocate for rigorous academic standards and teaching methods that reinforce critical thinking and a love of learning. She believes that fostering a culture of academic excellence will empower our students to excel.

She also believes in family engagement so parents understand what is being taught in the classroom and can engage in the process. She would encourage participation in PTO, Booster events and all extracurricular activities.

Fiscal transparency is imperative to Kim. As a school board member, she will prioritize responsible stewardship of our district's resources. She will ensure taxpayer dollars are allocated efficiently and effectively. Every FHUSD district dollar spent going forward must prioritize success and increase enrollment. Maintaining financial transparency and responsibility will build trust and confidence within our district and community. This is why she is the right choice for School Board.
